Retro gaming on Firestick with RetroArch

In this video tutorial, you’ll learn how to use RetroArch to play thousands of retro games on Firestick, Fire TV, Android TV Box, NVIDIA SHIELD, and more.

RetroArch is a free application that can be sideloaded onto the Firestick, Fire TV, or any other Android device.

RetroArch includes emulators for all major gaming systems including PlayStation, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega, GameBoy, Atari, Commodore and more.

The great thing about RetroArch is the ability to play all games in one interface.

Most applications only allow us to play one game system, but RetroArch offers us everything under one “roof”.

Yes, there are many different ways to “peel that orange.”

This is one of many ways you can set up retro gaming on an Android device, along with a few other options listed below:

Note: If you have trouble downloading the thumbnails via the online updater or want to save space on your device, you can download them to your USB drive instead.

1. Create a new directory called “Thumbnails” on your USB drive.

2. Download the thumbnails of your respective gaming system into this directory using this website on GitHub –

3. Extract the ZIP file to the same directory.

4. Rename the folder to the appropriate game system name that you see on the GitHub page.

Example: The “Super Nintendo Thumbnails” folder should be renamed to “Nintendo – Super Nintendo Entertainment System” because that is how the file name is listed on the GitHub page.
